It may technically be almost fall, but someone forgot to inform the weather where I live. It is 95 degrees as I write this, and the only pumpkin spice latte I can imagine is in the form of a popsicle.
I did make it to the Bay Area for my medical appointment and visit with my sister Kate and her husband Robert. They graciously put me up for the night when I have to travel down to their area. It saves me from having to turn right around and make the three hour trip back home.
I enjoyed the cooler weather there, and even did some fall shopping at Chicos, where the sales staff was busily putting out all their new fall merchandise. I succumbed to some casual clothes in that fabric they are calling “scuba”. Have you tried it? It is actually a smooth double knit material made from polyester and spandex. It holds its shape beautifully, resists wrinkling, and gives garments a structured, modern look. It is lightweight and breathable and great for casual every day wear.

I was keen to wear my new outfit, but I was definitely jumping the season. The fabric is terrific, but I will feel much more comfortable in my new things once the weather cools down to the 80s at least.
I consoled myself on the way home by stopping at a Hobby Lobby, where I bought new fall pillows for my front porch rockers. It may not feel like fall here, but by golly, it will look like it on my front porch.

Your porch is looking nice.
Thank you Doris. I really get excited about decorating it for each season.
Darling outfit!
I can’t wait to wear these fall colors and textures. If only the weather would cool down!
What a welcoming sight on your porch. Happy to share some of that heat – I’m already looking forward to spring!
Oh gosh, I just want to wear my sweaters and closed toe shoes!
We are still in the mid 90s but have had a mild summer. Likely to stay the same for a few more weeks, at least. The end is near. Only about ten days over 100 this year when sometimes we can have 70. Wondering what our winter will bring….
I haven’t heard any weather predictions for winter, but I hope we get enough rain.
Well, I live in Florida, so – I feel your pain! Ha! It did get down to the lower 60s (in the early morning) the other day, so we are seeing signs of cooling down. Love your pillow on your porch rocker!
Hobby Lobby was chock full of adorable fall decorations, all at 40% off!
Nicole,
We are actually getting rain here today in So Cal! Kind of hard to believe! I am ready for cooler weather. That outfit looks so comfortable. I may have to do a little shopping at Chico’s!
Oh my gosh, they had the nicest things. I may have gone overboard, but the doctor says I need to get more exercise. These comfy jogger sets will be perfect.
How delightful to spend time with Kate and Robert and their cooler weather!
If I knew where the cosmic thermostat was, I’d surely turn it down for you.
I cannot complain as we’ve had much cooler weather through most of August and so far in September which is really odd. Today’s high is to be 80*F. and we’ve even had one nighttime low of 49*F. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, we had 36 hours of rain without thunder, lightening, or torrential rain. It was lovely.
My autumn table cloths and wall quilts are out as I, too, love to decorate for the seasons.
Hugs!
36 hours of heavy rain? Good grief, my little dog would have been a basket case!
I bought the prettiest fall wreath at Target yesterday and have to get my son in law to come hang it for me. I love to decorate for fall.
We don’t have a Chico’s but I’m definitely going to check their website. We’ve had nice weather all summer except for a few days of high 90’s. Fall is settling in with cooler temps & signs of winter prep are all around. The nearby mountains received their first snow last week while we had rain. Ready or not, here it comes!
I envy you your cooler fall weather. Ours will come, but not soon enough for me!
Retail therapy is still going on over here. do you remember that gorgeous blue cardigan you were taking to Ireland last year? at the last minute, you decided not to. I kept begging you to send it to me. the color is completely wrong for me but I love it. well, I bought a similar styled one in a soft pink color. I also bought a new Adirondack jacket for my walks with the dog.
it’s been so muggy here. we’re use to it cooling off at night with the windows all open. it just isn’t happening.
