This Pumpkin Spice Gatherings quilt top is a monster. I have it spread out in two rooms while I am sewing the rows together. I organized the 15 rows into 5 sections of three rows each. I started at the top, as one does, and am working my way down. What you see in the photo above are the first nine rows.

Here are the unsewn six bottom rows. My hope is to get these rows sewn together and attached to the bigger section in the guest room today. Borders? Forget about it. This thing is plenty big enough without borders.

This past weekend was Homecoming Weekend in our little town. The Bret Harte Bullfrogs were everywhere you looked. There is my grown-up Eva (how did that happen so fast?) with her varsity girls water polo teammates, getting ready to get onto the float that would go down Main Street to the cheers of half the people in town. Go Bullfrogs!
Did you all have a good weekend? Our weather has cooled off, thank goodness, and it is beginning to feel like fall. To get myself in the mood, I’ve been enjoying my Starbucks Maple Pecan coffee pods in the Keurig and have been making a list of the books I want to read in October. Just so you know, September was a slow reading month for me, while the Great Blog Migration was taking place to this new site. I only finished eight books, and my aim is to get my reviews out this week.

8 books is very good for a busy month!
I had a very busy June and only got 7 done.
I think that pumpkin quilt needs a little resting border of solid white, maybe only 4-6” all the way around, before the binding.
Maybe lay it on a piece of white and see what you think.
I guess the background is not actually white, I should have said – maybe a small border of the background fabric.
I do have enough fabric to do a narrow outside border. I will consider it seriously.
I’m so glad I didn’t jump into this Pumpkin quilt. Not everyone has a giant bed, and I wish Lisa would give alternates as far as sizing and yardage. But it’s a beautiful quilt, and it’s another winner from you.
Just what I need, another gigantic Halloween quilt. Honestly. I need to stick to table runners for a while.
You only read eight books!😆 I read four and am so proud of myself. I am currently reading “They Were Sisters”. It’s a great book but I want to kill two of the sisters. I hate reading on a iPad. I am definitely a book person. Next month I will be busy so not as much reading. Love your quilt! It’s so perfect for fall! Yes your granddaughter has definitely grown up!
Oh. my gosh, Donna, I am so happy you are reading They Were Sisters! I want to spread my love of Dorothy Whipple far and wide. Yes, those sisters were ghastly. I did feel sorry for the one with the wretched husband though.
Nicole I finished “They Were Sisters” last night so 5 books read this month!❤️That’s huge for me! Did you know they made “They Were Sisters” into a movie in the 1940’s? It cannot be screened but I may buy the DVD. Now to read “Someone at a Distance”. I bet these books were scandalous back in the day!
“slow reading month for me…only finished 8 books” – Only you could call that “slow.” I am looking forward to your recommendations!
I know, I should think about what I say before I say it! lol. My recommendations are going to posted tomorrow.
Your quilt looks very nice on the bed! Lately, I’ve been skipping borders on bed quilts. I’ve especially done it with gifts for ‘younger’ recipients who seem to be going with a ‘less is more’ vibe in decorating. I’m definitely impressed with 8 books in a month! I’m just trying to keep up with my weekly People magazines! 😵💫
I know 8 books is a lot of reading for most people. I read so fast though, I expect more of myself. I am grateful for the ones I was able to get through. My reviews will be posted tomorrow.
Loving your Pumpkin Spice quilt — those open spaces will be perfect for some creative quilting. It will look gorgeous in a spacious fold at the end of a bed or be perfect for generous snuggling on a chilly night (perhaps while you are reading selections from your October wish list). Have to agree with Vicky — a small “resting” border would look great.
I have enough fabric to do that. I am seriously considering it.
Oh, my gosh, how can Eva be so grown up and beautiful already?? Surely we’re not any older … right?
Your Pumpkin Spice quilt is a delight and I agree it needs no borders. Enjoy your progress!
It’s 74*F here today with rain all around us – just not on us – it is mega humid. No air in the air.
Hugs!
Definitely fall in the air today. Dennis covered up the air conditioning units and says we are done using them until spring!
Eva has really had a growth spurt over the summer. She is looking very grown up.
I love that quilt!
It was a bigger job to sew the blocks together than it was to make the blocks!
I like your new home page. I am waiting for the solid buffalo plaid fabric to come so I can get started on the Christmas table runner.
Thanks Carole, you are the only person to mention it! I plan to change out the top three photos each month for variety.
Love your quilt! You are very organized in how you tackled putting together that big quilt! I can’t even imagine how much bigger it would be with borders! Eva is adorable! Can’t believe she is a young lady already! What a fun and exciting time for her!
I am still on the fence about adding borders. I have leftover background fabric, but the quilt is already so large.
Eva has grown up so quickly. She is really loving participating in sports at school.
