Yay me, I managed to finish the Autumn Nights table topper from Fat Quarter Shop. I changed up the borders a bit after seeing a photo someone posted on the Facebook site. I liked the addition of the narrow orange containment border and thought the taupe outer border was a bit boring. The orange print with the light background is a lot more fun.
I have been a customer of the Fat Quarter Shop since they first started, and from the get-go, owner Kimberly Jolly has seemed to take a personal interest in her customers and genuinely desired their satisfaction with products and customer service. I have to hand it to them for the way they run their business. Honestly, they are so generous with their free patterns, YouTube tutorials, and general inspiration. I get that all of that is a way to boost sales, but they do it in such a way that you feel Kimberly is your friend and wants your projects to be a success. You know she is sewing right along with you and wants you to enjoy the process as much as she does.
Probably 15 years ago I blogged about a FQS Designer Block of the Month I was working on. I messed up big time with my cutting and was bemoaning my stupidity on the blog. What do you know, I actually heard from Kimberly herself. She sent me a note, which I still have, telling me she was sending me replacement fabric for that block! That is generosity as well as fabulous customer service. She got me hooked on her business for life.

Another bit of eye candy for you all. This is another pattern from Carried Away Quilting. It is called the Buffalo Check Table Topper in the autumn theme. The pattern comes with an alternate version that is Christmas-themed. A great pattern at a great price!
I hope your week got off to a great start! Happy Fall Sewing!

Love both the fall table toppers. Makes the fall season fun seeing the pumpkins!
Thanks! Yet another project to add to my list. I really like the
buffalo plaid pattern and found a cute table runner while looking at what you mentioned. I need a table in my house for small square quilts or find a friend that has one.
I am so into fall decorating right now. And fall beverages, and books, and clothes….
I’m looking for fall book recommendations. What are some of your favorites?
I’ll be doing a post on that very soon!
Thanks Doris!
Darling! I have my blocks laid out and ready to finish. Just winding up from recovering from a bad cold, so I hope to get back and finish this one.
Get well soon Mary!
I do like your borders. I’ve had wonderful customer service from FQS and generally shop there first. I’ve worked with them on deciding actual color on fabrics; recovering a gift card, and clearing up a delivery issue. And I agree ith you about Kimberly. Such a warm, generous person!
I usually hate to pay for shipping, but they have kept their costs very low. They are usually first on my list of vendors when I want to purchase something.
I love this mystery quilt. I may not get it done this fall but it will be one I will get done eventually! And I too am a big fan of Fat Quarter Shop!
I think all of the fall/Halloween mystery quilts the Fat Quarter Shop has offered have been great. And they are free!
I have also been a Fat Quarter Shop customer for years. Their customer service is second to none and I really appreciate them. I spend way too much money with them!!!
You are so right about their customer service. I’ve even had them go check on fabric to see if it matches something I am working on!
I love both of those! Can I ask what fabric colors you use for the plaid topper? Also, I love FQS bc like you said, their customer service is second to none. They’re amazing and that goes a long way in my book.
It actually tells you what bella solids to buy on the back of the pattern cover.

FQS is a lifesaver when I need either fabric or notions but the one shop in my town doesn’t have it or isn’t open. I made the pumpkin Buffalo Check Table Topper a couple of years ago after seeing it on your blog. It’s one of my Fall favorites!
I really must make the Christmas version!
Too cute and what fun this table topper will be to use!
Are you yet hanging any quilts, large or small, on your walls? Just curious.
Hugs!
My husband and I are art collectors, so our walls are full of paintings. No room to hang quilts, but I do use them on furniture and beds. And as table toppers of course.
Love both! The stars, pumpkins and the leaves add a special autumnal hint. Always something cosy about buffalo plaids – goes so well with the pumps and stars too. One day – must make one! Another on the bucket list! I swear I must live to at least 140 years old!!!
Same here. My list of books, my lists of recipes to try, my list of quilts to make: they are all endless!
I agree. FQS has the best customer service around!
