Spending Spree

I've lost my mind lately, picking up great end-of-the-summer bargains online and in person. Honestly, I may have gone overboard. But, hey, it's ok, you only live once and you can't take it with you.

This bundle is Stitch by Fig Tree. It is an older collection from 2022 that I found for a great price online. I had an idea for what I was going to do with it, and now I can't remember at all what it was. No matter, if I can't recall, I will come up with something else. In fact, here's an idea.

I saw a lovely lady named Jan on FaceBook who had made this quilt and I am smitten. I have so much Fig Tree fabric in my stash, that these colors would be totally doable. It would make a nice change from the endless sampler quilts I have been making.

This is another fabric collection I purchased from Green Fairy, at a great price. It is Lori Holt's new group called Gentler Times. Her fabrics are so easy to work with as the prints are often small and have such pure clear color. It's like playing with a new box of Crayolas to sew with her fabrics. One collection blends seamlessly with others and if you collect one or two of her bundles, your stash will be considerable.

Not quilting related, but I've been wearing these jeans on repeat. They are Chicos Pull-On Wide Leg Crop jeans. The denim is soft and not too hot for summer. I am 5"4", so the length isn't particularly cropped on me. More like ankle length. I liked them so much I got them in white and in a cool sage green color.

I love the pull-on style, and they are actually rather flattering. After wearing skinnier jeans for the past number of years, it took a minute to get used to the wider leg, but I find I quite like it.

After many many years, I have finally found the perfect tee shirt. Plenty of heft to the fabric, not see through at all, and not too clingy or too long or too baggy. This tee is called The Perfect Crewneck Tee and is by Madewell. It is so well made I know I will have it for years. I liked it so much, I got the striped one, a white one and a black one. The shorter length is the right proportion for the wider leg jeans that are popular now.

It is so emollient and really is a pretty look. It is absolutely as good or better than similar high-end products that sell for $30. It isn't sticky, goes on smooth, and is great for every day.

I won't bore you with the other things I have been spending my money on, but let me just say my book shelves are going to be very full.

  1. A little retail therapy is sometimes just what is needed! The fabric bundles are going to make some beautiful quilts, the pattern you showed is perfect for any style of fabric. I recently was in two quilt shops and managed to enhance my stash. I’ve been using my stash but some new fabrics never hurt. The additions to your wardrobe are very nice and classic. Have a good week,

  2. Wow, thanks to you for the fabric sale info! I immediately went to Green Fairy’s site and found some FQs on sale. Their normal prices are a little higher than Fat Quarter Shop, but their sales are better.

  3. What yummy fabric bundles your found! I am still trying to work my way through my stash, finish UFOs, and keep my nose above water.
Today will be sewing scrappy Single Irish Chain blocks together to hopefully get the top together.
    Hugs!

  4. Green Fairy’s sales are frequent & generous, so they’re the first website that I check for precuts. Cute jeans & I especially like that they’re pull-on’s. I’m going to look for the lip balm next time I’m at the store!

  5. I think it’s – Thistles Quilt Pattern by Fig Tree Co.
I just ordered. I also ordered the Green Fairy bundle, yummy.

  6. Lucky find on that Fig Tree bundle! I think the pattern you are thinking about would look fantastic! You get me in so much trouble as I had purchased similar pull on pants at Chicos and now I think I’m going to need those too 😳. Thanks for the great finds and inspiration!

  7. I bought the Maybelline lip oil balm yesterday after reading your post. It’s really great; thanks for the tip!

  8. I’m wearing the same style of pants made from soft cotton from Garnet Hill. My dermatologist chastised me last year about getting too much sun on my legs. the wide leg is much cooler than jeans.
that fig tree bundle is gorgeous! those soft colors will make a beautiful quilt. someone commented that the pattern was also fig tree….run! find another pattern you love as much but won’t be a pita to make.

  9. So glad you are connecting with those bindings. I know I have unfinished quilts lurking. I even investigated a stack on my rocking chair and discovered it’s about a dozen quilt tops with no backing or binding. Ive been too prolific. I cleared the dining room table for bindings quilts. Do you use a walking foot? What is the name of your first posted quilt? It’s gorgeous. I hope to see my long-arm friend soon.Time is advancing and it just feels so good to see a quilt to completion. Thanks for sharing yours.
