I went down the Drunkard's Path for sure this week. I am not sure what inspired me to starch and press my Autumn fabric collection by Lori Holt and drag out my Drunkard's Path templates, but this is the result. I used a pattern called Daybreak Mini by Sheri McConnell of A Quilting Life for the layout. I wasn't really paying attention to the size of her block units, because I was using a template that made units 4 1/2" square, which I trimmed down to 4 1/4".
It took no time at all, and I was glad to have an opportunity to practice my curved piecing before I got totally rusty at it. The end result is about 24 inches square, maybe a bit smaller. I didn't measure it, but it will be fine for a little table topper in late summer/early fall.
I am pleased to announce that I got the Strawberry Garden quilt off the design wall. All the blocks are sewn together, and I only have one more task. I need to piece a checkerboard border for the two sides of the quilt. That won't take long and the top will be off to be quilted. I will take a photo before I box it up. I hope by next summer I will have gotten over being sick of looking at it. My gosh, that was a project. I am swearing off complicated Fig Tree quilts for a while.

Now that the design wall is cleared off, I was in a quandry as to what to put up next. I haven't mentioned my Riley Blake Design Challenge 2025 in a while, but I would like to get this project wrapped up. I wasn't even sure if I would do anything with it, as I didn't want to feel pressured to keep up with a sew along. Well, I didn't really keep up with the sew along, but I do like the blocks, which I htink have a down home country feeling to them.
I have a fun idea for the center, so you will have to check back with me to see if it pans out.
Happy August and have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Your drunkard’s path quilt is beautiful – wonderful way to start August! As always, thanks for sharing!
Love your wee little quilt and your bravery in tackling the curved piecing!! It’s charming and I, too, love autumn colors.
Yesterday I meant to sew block pairs of the baby quilt together but found a box of scrappy blue HSTs in two sizes and lots of blue/white squares so totally derailed myself.
Glory be! Today’s high is 76*F and temperatures thru Thursday will be just a tad warmer than that. Now if the humidity would drop …!
Hugs!
Love your little table topper! Happy long weekend and happy sewing to you Nicole!
I like the variety of neutral fabrics in your Drunkard’s Path. Hurray for finishing the Strawberry Garden! Enjoy the weekend–HOW is it that we’re already in August??
Your table topper came out so cute and what a fun way to try out or refresh a skill! Can’t wait to see your Strawberry Garden, especially when it is quilted! I’m sure once you see it all done up you’ll jump back into another Fig Tree project!
