I made a few more blocks for the Designer Mystery 2024 quilt. I may eliminate that block on the lower left. I think it's too red, and also the house pattern is placed weirdly. I like the block however, and may re-do it with aqua as the center color and just a touch of red around it.
Yesterday was one of those days where just about anything that could go wrong, did.
First, my new housecleaning service cancelled on me. First visit, and they want to know if they can reschedule. Of course, we spent an hour tidying things up and making sure the toilets were clean before they let us kow at the last minute that they weren't coming. You only have one chance to make a good first impression.
Second, I was notified that a package had been delivered from Nordstrom by OnTrac. This is the second time they had to send the package because the first time OnTrac claimed they delivered it, it was nowhere to be found. I went out to get the second package and again it wasn't there. Seriously? Twice the guy dropped it at the wrong place? I called and fussed and they sent me a photo of where they put the package. Get this: the delivery guy went into our garage and put the package behind some cans of old paint. The first package was there as well. Hello? I have a front door…why would you go into my garage and hide my packages?
There's more, but I won't bore you. Anyway, I did get some sewing done.
Eva had a birthday! Our girl turned 14 and I made a S'Mores Ice Cream Pie, which could not have been easier. We needed a blow torch to toast the marshmallows on top, but son in law Ryan happened to have a couple laying around and did the job.

Happy Birthday to Eva! Your blocks are beautiful 😍 crazy about delivery people – do they even think about what they are doing?? We have a doorbell and they always knock instead! One day I said to the pizza delivery guy – why don’t you use the door bell because if I’m in the basement, I can’t hear you knocking. He said some people’s doorbells don’t work so why they them? Good grief 🙄 have a wonderful day!

There is a lot of news about delivered packages being stolen off front porches. Some thieves sit back and wait for the delivery guy to leave. Maybe he was putting it in an extra safe place to protect it. He really hid the package!!!!!!

All of the blocks 2024 Designer blocks are pretty, but the lower left corner block is a little too red, it just doesn’t quite fit.

I guess you had family members who didn’t think it was safe? do you remember that? I can’t remember where I put my book but I remember that? ugh.
the red in those blocks really adds to them. I don’t think the left block is too much red. keep it!
I had a box thrown over my fence by UPS once. They were trying to be ‘helpful’. driver was worried someone would steal the package.

Happy 14th (14th??????) birthday to Eva!! I’ve been reading your blog for a very long time because I remember when she wasn’t born yet! I’d re-do the block with the aqua in place of the red. And, as for the cleaning service, I’d find someone else because if they cancel the first time that easily, they won’t have a problem doing it again.
Funny, Ryan has many assets, even a few blow torches just laying around. Despite the challenges of daily life, you did not disappoint the birthday girl. Happy birthday pretty Eva.
