Hope those of you in the US had a Happy 4th of July! I can't believe the year is half over. Do check out the Reeding Between the Lines YouTube video or podcast for Sara and me doing our mid-year book check-in. It was a fun episode.
Slowly but surely, my design wall is filling up. I have completed all the main blocks for the Fig Tree Strawberry Garden quilt, and now have to make a ton of smaller filler blocks. I have my fabric mostly cut out and plan to tackle those this week.
Here are the most recent blocks I have finished:

This one is Summer Star, 8 1/2" unfinished. To tell you the truth I was glad I only had to make one of these. The units were odd-sized and caused me to pull my hair out a bit.

Aren't these adorable? They are called Blossom and finish at 8 1/2 x 16 1/2". Using the Wagon Wheel unit as the flower is so cute.

These are called Double Star, for obvious reason. They finish at 8 1/2"

These are called Picket Fence and finish at 6 1/2 x 9 1/2". They went together super fast.
Next up is to make a ton of small filler blocks. This is going to take a bit of time because the blocks are tiny, 4 3/4". And I have to make a lot of them. 24 Berry Basket blocks, which I have all cut out and started. Then 20 or so Posey blocks, which is essentially an X block.

It feels good to really focus on this quilt and hopefully get it done, and off to the quilter before the end of summer. I need to start a Halloween quilt, don't you think? Or finish one of the three I have started….

This quilt is adorable, such a wonderful variety of blocks! Odd size blocks can definitely be a challenge, yours are perfect. A Halloween quilt is always a fun project and when you already have options it’s even better. It is hard to believe that this year is past the halfway mark. The 4th of July celebrations aren’t near as exciting as they once were but I still love the fireworks.
Love the blocks– the picket fence in my fave. I’ve also been thinking about concentrating on one quilt at a time. Ready to make those Bat Blocks when you are!
xox
You got a lot finished since you last shared your strawberry garden blocks! We’re recovering from the 4th’s busyness & heading toward company arrivals so I’m not getting too much time in my sewing room. Have a good week!
Lovely quilt Nicole and smart of you to concentrate on one project. For the past couple of weeks I’ve followed your path and focused on Summer Moon by Carrie Nelson that I started more than a few years ago. I’m in complete sympathy with you on making the very small blocks!
You are finding great colour balance in your blocks, Nicole and the double star block is gorgeous and perfectly made! Great job! I vote that you finish a Halloween quilt that you’ve already started and maybe it’ll be ready for this Halloween??
Such a wonderfully cheerful quilt, Nicole. Sure to brighten someone’s day!
This is amazing – you are heading to the finish line! It’s going to be a beautiful quilt.
Summer Stars has a lot of seams coming together….gorgeous! did you iron your seams open? It is so hard to get blocks like that to lie flat.
this is gonna be another beautiful quilt. I got side-tracked on a small project and regret it. too much wasted time and it doesn’t look the way I wanted. I refuse to abandon ship.
what did ryan cook for the 4th? I ended up making citrus braised pork for burritos.
stay cool up there!
Well done on your quilt progress! You’re certainly making up for lost time, aren’t you?
I’ve seen the Double Star also called Rising Star and like that name.
I’ve now made 33 9 Patch blocks for this baby quilt. Too cute!
Hugs!
