My departure from the Primitive Gatherings Pumpkin Gatherings Sew Along is to not go with the brown fabrics for the churn dash blocks. I have green fabrics from previous PG collections (Garden Gatherings, Yuletide Gatherings, Flower Garden Gatherings) and pulled them out of my stash. I didn't want to dip too much into the Pumpkin Gatherings greens, because Lisa indicated that there might be a Christmas project upcoming that would use the reds and greens in the Pumpkin collection. No problem, I have plenty of other greens that will work great. That is the wonder of being a long time quilter/fabric collector: you accumulate a great stash of fabric to pull from.
I also like that my quilt won't look exactly like 100 others.

I think the green will be a wonderful spot of color, along with the oranges from the collection.
All my half-square triangles are made, and I've sewn all the strips for the other block unit. Today will be my big assembly day. I hope to put all 22 additional churn dash blocks together. I couldn't resist making two test blocks to ensure my math was right. They are 6 1/2" unfinished.
I'm excited about this quilt and am happy with my color change.

They are going to work great! I don’t care for brown so much either.
I agree!! Green in with those rusts and orange will be a nice pop of refreshing.

I love green, so I think this is a great idea!
I have your test green fabric and I love it. Good choice not to use that much brown.
Green is the perfect choice! Personally I didn’t get the brown. It’s going to be a lovely quilt!
The greens are going to be perfect!
love those greens! they are going to look gorgeous with the other colors.
why didn’t you make a tiny 3″ test block just to confirm that Thelma is a mad hatter….
okay, I’ve got to go back and see what I’ve missed in previous posts.
