SideTracked Again

Oh dear, I have to admit I got side tracked again over the weekend.  I was rummaging around in the garage and found a project box labeled Mystery Block of the Month 2013.  When I opened the box, I discovered 12 completed blocks of the month in the 3 Sisters Peace on Earth collection, along with a finishing kit.  I love it when that happens.

In an effort to embrace my 2016 Finish It and Give It Away goals, I pulled out the blocks and laid them out.  I  discovered that I needed to make the red lattice (which forms a fun star pattern) and get the pieced border on, and this quilt will be  a finish.  So naturally, that is what I did.  Made a good start anyway.

On Friday and part of Saturday I was able to get the lattice and borders cut out and the lattice units all made.  This week I will plan on sewing the rows together and get working on the border, which is a tone on tone green that also forms a star design.

The weather was too perfect to sit inside sewing all day on Saturday, so my husband and I went off on a little driving adventure.  We drove through the countryside and ended up at an amazing little restaurant out in the middle of no where.  We had a delightful lunch and also enjoyed some yummy wine tasting.  I didn't want to eat for days, just in order to savor that last incredible meal!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and got a little bit of everything squeezed into it.

  1. What a delightful surprise this Peace on Earth sampler quilt must have been when you found it! Rather than give it away, perhaps some beloved family member needs a beautiful Christmas quilt??
Cheers for driving adventures that end up with such a perfect destination as that restaurant y’all found!! Hope you remember how you got there in case you want to go again.
I’m about to sew the pieced border together for Brian’s star quilt – all in the same century says this slow-poke quiltmaker.
    Hugs!
