New Project I Could Not Resist

My work schedule has been tough this week, and I have not made much progress on Viola.  Over the weekend, however, I did succumb to making a table topper in fabrics that are End of Summer/Early Fall in feeling.  I figured once I had those little half square triangles made up I had better get them sewn together.  You know how my husband is with setting up fans everywhere.  It has been warm this week and I could just see him blowing those little blocks to Kingdom Come.

This came together in a jiffy and turned out really cute, I think.  The color of that top border strip did not come out accurately in the picture.  It really does "go" with the others!

It is one of the monthly Kim Diehl Simple What Nots projects I signed up to make through Fatquarter Shop. This was the tiniest one I have made yet.  You can see the scale of the project by comparing it to the match stick.  It measures 10 1/2" by 11 1/2" .  Also, this picture shows the true color of that top border strip.  Looks much better.

I will get this quilted up so I can use it ASAP.  And trust me, I promise to get back to Viola and show you some progress in a few days.

  1. Now isn’t that just the cutest little quilt?! Applause, applause!! It’s so small that the matchstick is longer than the borders are wide, too. What size are the HSTs?
I so enjoy having small seasonal quilts for the walls and tables. It’s like playing house all over again as the calendar changes!
    Hugs!

  2. I love minis! They are such a great way to play with fabrics and patterns and still have a quick finish and sometimes that is just what you need. Have a wonderful weekend:-)

  3. So Cute, Nicole!! I have enough Kim Diehl fabric to make two large quilts. I had mentioned to you that I plan on making Jellystone with it, and now I’m adding Bonnie Blue’s Star Formation from APQ. I haven’t started either one yet, but I should start on Jellystone at next weeks guild. Have a great weekend!

  4. That’s a very cute mini quilt! It’s just the right size to use as a placemat under a certain ‘mini person’s’ plate!! 😍

  5. very nice! That fabric is just beautiful! Looks so appropriate for fall. I need to change out some quilts too.

  6. All the Fall colors in one small darling quilt. Looks like the season is near, thank goodness. I have been hearing my air con drone daily since April, will be glad to open doors again. Love the tinies, and what a nice break from big quilts. I am knitting for a new baby, a boy, for my side work from quilting. Its a joy to be sure.

  7. Great little quilt for the season. It is pretty maddening how some fabrics just photograph wacky colorwise. Have a great weekend!
