Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Hope you get to spend some time with your sweeties.  If not, treat yourself to something  lovely.  Have you got plans for Valentine's Day or President's Weekend?  Our little town  has a big event planned that brings in loads of tourists, so it's all hands on deck at the shop where I work.  I have a hunch my hubby will plan something fun for dinner Saturday night.   Hope you can relax with those you love!

I finished  my little Speck table topper in pink fabrics.  Not my best work, but if you don't look too close, it is pretty cute for the occasion.  Pattern is a Little Bites by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.  Whew.  At least I finished it!  I did the quilting myself, and have to say "not bad".  My stitch in the ditch was pretty much right in there, which is good for me, since I usually meander a bit.

And look what I found!  Mon Ami, another Miss Rosie pattern.  I tell you, I turned the house upside down looking for that little guy.  He was there being teeny tiny, folded in between some bigger projects.  The other Granny Square table topper I made a couple of years ago and never had it quilted.  Mary, head's up, I think this is coming your way!  So cute.  Wouldn't it be a darling baby quilt for a little girl?  You could make one up in a jiffy with Pamkittymorning fabrics.  Adorable.

Since we are on the subject of Valentine's quilts, check this out.  I made this little thing about 30 years ago, if not longer.  It is just strip piecing red fabrics, incorporating some trim and rick rack every couple of rows, and cutting the thing into a heart shape.  It isn't bound.  I just did the put a backing right sides together with the pieced top  and turn it inside out thing.  I have had this out every Valentine's day since my kids were little.

Eva Elsa is using it as her Valentine's table mat.

We are ready for the Valentine's Fairy at our house.  Bring it on!

  1. Cheers for finishing your new Speck of Valentine’s Day table topper! I knew you could do it.
More cheers for finding Mon Amour and the Granny Square flimsy where they were hiding.
Love your Valentine heart that has been part of your family celebrations for decades. All those years ago you were already sewing fabric together into charming accessories.
How sweet, too, is Miss E’s joyous and cute pose?
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours!
    Hugs!

  2. BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the new Speck table topper! And what a nice surprise to find the other 2 gems…I’d say you are ready for Valentines. 🙂

  3. Your retro heart is my favorite! I used those white ruffles & the woven ribbon on projects ‘back in the day,’ too! Eva looks very happy with it & what a lovely memory for her as she sees your Valentine in the years to come!
