The Mailman Came.

Holy Cow.  I really  need to knock off on the chardonnay before shopping on the internet.  The mailman came and there were certainly a lot of packages with my name on them.  Sara said, "Mom.  It's like Christmas".  Oh dear.  Well, I can tell you, that I have definitely beefed up my non-existent Happy Fabric Stash.  Happy projects, I am good to go.

I love the Denyse Schmidt fabric, and the Joel Dewberry (front and center) is to die for.  I love the black/grey/yellow colorway, and can't wait to add more blacks and greys to the mix.  The Anna Maria Horner fabrics, I am going to have to get used to.  The prints are large and the colors are very bold.

I also received a Kaleidoscope ruler, which will be good for the larger Kaleidoscope blocks I hope to make.  I am also getting a smaller Kaleidoscope ruler that trims up pin wheel blocks into the proper kaleidoscope shape.  I am super excited to try that, but the largest size block I can make with it is 6 inches.  That will be wonderful for table topper sized projects.

Have a wonderful weekend, Friends.  I hope to show you a completed Maison Joyeuse top on Monday!

  1. I have to agree – Joel Dewberry prints are always so pretty and easy to work with and Denyse Schmidt fabric is also easy. I am always challenged by Amy Butler and Anna Marie Horner fabrics. Switching from the more “mundane” prints to the vibrant stuff is a jolt! Looking forward to seeing your completed quilt top next week. (And isn’t it amazing how just one “extra” glass of wine takes shopping to the next level?!?) Have a great weekend!!

  2. Christmas in March it is, for sure!! What a delight to have these delicious fabrics arrive at your door along with that helpful ruler.
Another blogging friend found Tula Pink has a great book of modern blocks and joy-joy fabrics. Perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned it since Santa just came yesterday!
    Have fun!
    Hugs!

  3. Hard to sneak that much to the quilt room without someone commenting! beautiful fabric for sure. It will be fun watching you put it all together into another great quilt(s). have a good weekend.

  4. My first thought was wondering if your was at home but maybe he is extra, extra considerate, mine not that tolerant, but it does help restraint. I think some might call it fear but I would be willing to risk that for Joel’s fabric in front. That yellow is gorgeous, especially with the grey and black.
I think you need another glass of wine now to celebrate the safe arrival.

  5. Looks like a great start! I guess that I have one happy collection other than all of my darks…It’s Poetica by Pat Bravo and I plan on making a string quilt one day. Have a great weekend.

  6. Ha ha ha – three cheers to the chardonnay! You definitely needed these happy fabrics! And I hope you don’t have to do any ‘sneaking’. I’m lucky that my husband doesn’t care what I buy – he knows that it’s my hobby and it’s cheaper than a shrink! He has his hobbies and that’s what we work hard for – to enjoy ourselves.

  7. Just look at all of that wonderful fabric. Boy are you going to have fun ! Looking forward to see what quilts you are going to make with this fabric. I made some makeup bags a couple of years ago using that black, yellow & gray fabric 😀

  8. Mmmmmm…I’ll have one of those, and one of those and…and… Three cheers for Chardonnay-fueled shopping!!

  9. I think I’m the only one who isn’t super fond of AMH. You’ve got a great collection of happy going on! Pink Castle fabrics is a modern quilt shop and they currently have their entire shop 20% off.

  10. Oh my! I love mail days like that (preferably getting the mail before hubby comes in – LOL!) That Joel Dewberry IS quite fabulous – I have made a few things with it. Apparently, we are very much on the same wavelength o:)

  11. Beautiful!! I am also loving the brighter Happier colours lately! We have had an extremely long dark cold winter and the new colours have really helped as we impatiently wait for spring!
    Have Fun Nicole!!!

  12. Hello, My name is Nicole and I’m a quiltaholic. Hi Nicole! ;p
Notice that I’m in the same meeting with you. ;p

  13. Maybe I should have chardonnay when putting fabric in my cart – I might actually push buy sometimes. Postage to New Zealand is the killer for me.

  14. Lovely fabric! Oooh, I love getting quilty stuff in the mail! Although my next shipment is going to produce a little guilt as I ordered 9 yards of extra wide backing (when what I really wanted was 9 feet or 3 yards … ooops!). The worst part is that it’s for DD’s quilt, and it’s fabric that really isn’t my style or taste. 🙁

  15. Merry Christmas Nicole! You deserve it 🙂 Don’t give up on the Chardonnay… things get cloudy when you do.
Seriously, I love your fabric choices. Lots of fun bundles there and I look forward to your weekend progress.

  16. Love all the packages! That yellow and gray is to die for! Can’t wait to see all the happy quilts you make 🙂

  17. Loved this post & your new loot! I can relate to the chardonnay shopping, it’s added to my huge stash over the years too. Can’t wait to see your completed quilt top next week. Have a great week-end!

  18. How fun…that’s a lot of happy! I keep meaning to ask you the name of the quilt pattern in your header. Love it!

  19. You sound like my kindred spirit. I started a happy fabric collection last year and my friends say I’m coming over from the dark side (I’ve been there a very long time!). Can’t wait to see what you make with yours.

  20. hahaha My issue is Merlot!! Love all your bright happy prints, certainly something fresh and fun will come from these lovely stacks of prints and colors

  21. Hahaha we joke that my husband does the drink shopping online. A few things have turned up and he’s said “did I order that?” Unfortunately, all the fabric that arrives has no excuses except my over spending!
