This and That

This past weekend when I pulled out Mocha Trails, I rediscovered these blocks.  My Ridiculously Cute Basket Blocks (MoJo by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.).  Gosh, those are cute.  Even my husband commented on them when he walked by the sewing room.  "Wow, I really like that.  What great fabrics".  Yup, the fabrics are wonderful all right.  Simple Abundance by Bonnie and Camille.  When a guy comments favorably on a fabric collection, you know the designers are doing something right.

As you can see, I sewed eight of the blocks together into the large four block units with lattice.  I have to make seven more of these units and then connect them with a scrappy lattice.  Since it seems like more of a spring/summer quilt to me, I think it will go back into the project box for now while I finish up Mocha Trails.

I am off work for a few days straight, so I can buckle down and make some progress with my brown and aqua version of Mocha Trails before Thelma gets impossibly ahead of me!  I promise I will have Mocha Trails blocks to show you tomorrow!

It feels like Indian Summer here this week.  I swear we get our best weather in October and November.  Look what I still have in my garden.

  1. Both the blocks and the roses are spectacular. I still have dahlias, cosmos, zinnias and marigolds blooming, which makes it hard to winterize my flower bed! today is our last nice day for a while

  2. Lovely roses and beautiful basket blocks! It is difficult to be headed for Christmas and sew on spring/summer looking fabrics.
I hope to buckle down on this rainy afternoon to make lots of half square triangles (crimson/black) and the stretched out Peaky and Spike side-center block units. I suppose I need to get off the computer to accomplish anything.
    Hugs!

  3. Those are great blocks and when a husband comments on them, you know they’re really good. Your roses are beautiful. Ours are long gone – snow predicted for tomorrow, but 70’s next week. Typical fall weather.

  4. Hi Nicole, I love your basket blocks. In fact I have simple abundance fabric and thought I could make some baskets also. Anyway, you can let me know the name of your pattern? I would appreciate it. It’s been very hot here in So. California the last 3 days, I wish the cooler days of fall and winter would get here.

  5. Hi Nicole! Those ARE ridiculously cute baskets. That fabric collection is soooo pretty. I really missed the boat on that one! Flowers are gorgeous!!! You would not still have those if you were in MI. Just when I was enjoying the beautiful color of the leaves on trees, a wind storm. AND snow is in the forecast for tomorrow!

  6. Cute cute blocks. And I love the scrappy lattice. I live in Molalla OR and we are having outstanding weather this November. Love the extra days of sunshine. My roses are still blooming too!

  7. I remember the baskets! They are looking good. I do not know how you get so much sewing done when you have a job also! I can measure my weekly progress easily – maybe a block a week…
