Birds on the Table

I thought my latest summer table scape was adorable.  Pottery Barn is my best friend right now for in season decorations to give the house a bit of a spruce up.  I picked up the candles, table runner and cast iron crows there on Friday.

My husband gave me a call on my cell phone when I was driving home from work on Saturday.  Evidently he had just noticed the table with the big footed crows.

"Listen.  We need to talk about those birds on the dining table".
"Oh, don't you just LOVE them?  They are so cute!"
"Well, no, actually, I think they are rather disgusting".
"No!  You are kidding me, right?  They are the most darling things ever.  You don't like them?"

Now, I have been known to make a mis-step once in a blue moon when it comes to my seasonal decor, but these birds are dead on wonderful, don't you think?  Much much better than those little Christmas stockings that I had to return back in December.

  1. Oh my goodness I don’t know what to say. DH is hilarious. He’s bothered by The Birds. I think I CAN get there but if he didn’t bring it up, I wouldn’t have thought about it. The stockings though, omg, that’s hilarious!

  2. oh I want to go to PB right now and buy those crows too!
    I LOVE them too.
don’t return them, he can live with them can’t he
ok, I agree about the stockings glad you returned them!

  3. I don’t know that’d I’d want to eat with the birds…maybe on a side table or counter top? Like their looking for bread crumbs. They are cute though.

  4. Oh my gosh! Those crows are the absolute best! Don’t remove them….make him live with them. Crows are my favorite!

  5. Goodness. Men think they need to be involved in decorating. Just tell him that ou are sorry he doesn’t like them and you’ll move them soon. Then forget to! My hubby realised long ago that the decorating was my area and not to interfere. That’s not to say that he doesn’t have some say in some specific designated, albeit small out of the way, areas. Tee Hee! I for one love the tablescape. That is one area that I always have trouble with and you did a great job. The stockings, on the other hand……

  6. Gotta go with the husband on this one….., I wouldn’t call them disgusting…..but I wouldn’t want to have to look at them everyday either…sorry.

  7. I got the “perfect” answers for you: one tell DH that you will replace them “as soon as you find something else you like as well or better”–then send me the crows—Yep, good answer!!!! Now those stockings–they would not even have gotten hung up!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great day–hugs, just, Di

  8. I love the birds, Nicole! And I’m laughing hard – I once had a jeans jacket I thought I looked adorable in. Wore it constantly for a couple of seasons until my husband said one day as I was putting it on – you’re going to wear that? He admitted he never liked it at all! Maybe you can get him to bring home something he really likes!!
    Cheers!

  9. I love your crows. I have a thing for crows. They remind of me of home and what a real autumn should be (I am Canadian living in Australia) But my mom hates them so she probably wouldnt like them. If we had Pottery Barn over here I would be getting some too.

  10. Maybe the movie The Birds, haunts him!!! Take the birds away for your dearest! I love birds dearly, but I have to admit, those have a spooky feel to them!! (Along with those stockings~~ HA!) OR, maybe he is thinking about the economizing you are supposed to be doing? Possibly? :)) (really giggling here, too funny)

  11. You know really men have absolutely no idea! Last night in our local supermarket I picked up a watering can – a brand new galvanised/aluminium sort of thing. “What do you want that for we have two watering cans already” (the green practical plastic sort you understand) The face he pulled when I suggested it might look nice sitting on our lovely new patio being used as a planter with something colourful growing from the top was a total picture – they just have no soul at times! :o))) Think I might nip back and get it this afternoon though!
