Hey look, a new project

img_0103.jpg

I went a bit nuts this weekend.  I started two new projects.  I know, I know, you have all heard me vow not to start a single new thing until I actually FINISH something, but, oh well.  Things just got the best of me.

The borders for my Return to Sender Christmas quilt stared balefully at me all weekend, but did I pay attention?  No way.  I started in on my sampler project with Lisa, started up a new jelly roll project, and started up this baby with the fabric my son got for me from JJStitches in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.  The shop had an amazing quilt done up using a pattern called Posy Patches from Buggy Barn’s Around the Bend book.  I was all set to do it just as they had done, but at the last minute, I discovered this pattern I had bought some time back, designed by Brandywine, "Meadowbrook Farm".  On impulse, I decided I liked it and made up two blocks.  What do you think?

No will power.  No self-discipline.  I am weak.  But aren’t they pretty?  I promise, I will finish something soon.

  1. These are really sweet. The center square is perfect for your fussy-cut flowers.
    You really are a multi-tasker! 😀

  2. I love it – it’s stunning! For me???? LOL – I do have a birthday very soon! LOL
I have not done any sewing since I finished my Butter Dish Baskets (Celebrate Spring) last week. I was sitting on the couch tonight and had a strong urge to sew. Maybe this week end.

  3. They are incredibly pretty. Such a nice little centre to display a bit of floral fabric. I can see why you started this one.
I have yet to get drawn into the jelly roll fabric craze. But I think the concept is great – much more usable than the charm square. I just might need to buy me some :))

  4. Very nice pattern! Your first two blocks look great too! Is this jelly-roll friendly? It looks like it could be except for the centers. I was in my LQS tonight and asked the owner about jelly rolls–I had bought one there but hadn’t seen others. She said she orders ten with each collection from Moda but they’re offered first to the Moda U group, so they rarely make it out to the floor, darn it!

  5. Oh….this pattern is so cute. And the your colours is soooooooo beautiful. I think I have to order this pattern if I find it on net. Only two new projects this week LOL But it is so fun to start something new!!!!

  6. They are beautiful. Ya know, I might have to quit reading soon because you tempt me to all this quilting goodness! I’ve resisted thus far (seeing as how I have 2 in the works) but I feel like I’m going to cave at any time!

  7. These are adorable! I love the pattern — it looks like just the right thing for some Civil War FQs I recently acquired through a great swap. I do believe I will buy the pattern.

  8. Oooooh they are very pretty! I love that you always show the patterns of your projects, now I can go out and buy it! Lol* You’ve also sold me on Jellyroll’s. I think I will get one next opportunity I have! 🙂

  9. No will power? No self-discipline? Weak? No, no, no…. It’s a charitable contribution on your part to inspire and delight. You’re doing it for the children!!! (aka the quilters of blogland)
Another pattern and fabric selection you’ve done that I just have fallen in love with!

  10. That is a really sweet pattern, and your fabrics are perfect for it! No need to feel guilty of low self dicipline! Remember all the inspiration and ideas you send out to the world of quilters :o) Have fun!

  11. I’ve missed so much on your beautiful blog. My hubby was home sick for a week but is finally back to work half days now which gives me some time to catch up on my work and browse. I adore these new blocks with the floral centers. What a gorgeous quilt this will be. Can’t wait to see it all finished. xoxo

  12. Those are gorgeous quilt blocks! I absolutely love the colors you have chosen. And I saw your post about the jelly rolls down below. I’d just like to buy a bunch and place them all on a shelf for inspiration!

  13. OMGosh, they are just beautiful! I love them. And no fair you saying you don’t finish things, because you finish things at an amazing rate! You’re like, super-quilt woman or something! ~A 🙂

  14. Your two blocks are gorgeous! I think I need that pattern. If I had to wait until all of my projects are finished before I start another one I wouldn’t get to start anything new for a LONG time!

  15. Those are beautiful and I love the pattern as well, LOL! Don’t feel bad, I have 5 UFO’s ready to be quilted and what am I doing this weekend? Starting 2 new quilts, LOL! My 2 younger sons want me to make them quilts NOW, since I am giving my red, white and blue Spring Stars quilt to the 15 year old. Geez, I need a quilting machine, LOL!

  16. What a neat pattern! I like your blocks – they are beautiful. I’d stick with this since you’ve made such a great start.
Don’t worry about finishes – they’ll happen when they are supposed to. The important thing is that you are enjoying yourself. You could be wasting your time sitting in front of the TV doing nothing but frying your brain on poor shows.
